“Ramadhan is the (month) in which was sent down the Qur'an, as a guide to mankind, also clear (Signs) for guidance and judgment (Between right and wrong)…” (Quran 2:185)
This is known as the month of the Qur’an. A book we claim to love. Yet what do we know or understand about the Qur’an? In this blessed month of Ramadan join us on a voyage to discover the main source of our religion – discover the speech of your Creator - Discover The Glorious Quran!.
his course will examine an array of subject matters pertaining to the Qur’an including:
- How/When was the Qur’an revealed and how it has reached us in the form of a book?
- Examining misconceptions about the Qur’an
- Understand the evolution of Tafseer and how the scholars of the past have studied the major themes of the Qur’an.
- Developing knowledge on the types and the sources of Qur’anic tafseer.
- Cross-reference to other parts of the Qur'an to demonstrate how 'the Qur'an explains the Qur'an.
- Glimpses into how surah names are related to each surah and the historical context of its revelations (asbab al-nuzul)
- A look into examples of inter-textual relationship and coherence (nazm) between the verses of each surah and the relationship with the preceding/following surah.
- Discussion on linguistic and stylistic devices (balagha), problems with translation/ interpretation and alternative plausible interpretations.
- The differences between Makki and Madni Surahs
This is a FREE course but an “optional” purchase of course material for ₤5 will be available on the day. Alternatively students can make their own notes for free. There will also be an interactive Q&A.
